Thinking of a name for your kid is a big thing for most parents and understandably so. That name will stick with the child forever.
It will be part of their identity, who they are, how they carry themselves, and also how others perceive them. You can't have your child running around with a name that they won't like, right, and it's not going to be you who's going to live with that name for the rest of their lives.
It's not an easy thing to just come up with a name, however. Some people take inspiration from the most cherished people in their lives, others already have a name picked out ever since they were kids, and a few even base their kids' names on characters from their favorite films or shows.
For celebs, the names of their children are often big news and a lot of people excitedly waiting for them. While some celebs have taken the normal route where they name their children beautiful and normal names, other celebs have really taken the time to come up with a name like no other in the world.
To call some of these names uncommon is an understatement because a few of the names they came up with have never been given to humans before. Here are some of the most unique celebrity kid names out there.
1. X Æ A-12 Musk
Elon Musk introduced his baby boy with Grimes on Twitter and also unveiled the baby's name. We're still not sure how to exactly pronounce it but we're pretty sure that child won't be dealing with having the same name as anybody.
Some Twitter users think that the Æ means "Ash" while the A-12 represents "Archangel" after the CIA aircraft of the same name.
2. Atlas Noa
Shay Mitchell gave birth to her first child with partner Matte Babel in 2019 and revealed the baby girl's name on her Instagram.
"In my 32 years of life I thought I had seen a lot of places, experienced a lot of things, met a lot of people and felt love...then came you," the Pretty Little Liars star expressed in her Instagram. "Truth is I had no idea I was capable of loving anything like this before you arrived."
3. Esmeralda Amada
In 2014, Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes introduced the world to their first baby, Esmeralda Amada. In an interview with The Violet Files, the couple revealed that their baby's name held a sentimental meaning.
"Ryan and I both love the Esmeralda character from the Victor Hugo novel, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and we just think it's a beautiful name," she said. "Amada was my grandmother's name. It means 'beloved' in Spanish."
The couple used the name Amada once again with their second daughter Amada Lee Gosling who was born in 2016.
4. Raddix Madden
Cameron Diaz' child with Benji Madden has a pretty cool name. Diaz took to Instagram to announce the birth of her little girl adding, "She is really really cute. Some would even say RAD."
5. Elsie Otter Pechenik
Zooey Deschanel and her ex-husband Jacob Pechenik revealed that they named their daughter Otter because the furry little things were "really sweet, they're also smart, they use tools to keep their favorite tools, [and] they hold hands while they sleep."
6. Kulture Kiari Cephus
When asked what was the inspiration behind her daughter's name with Offset was, the rapper said, "Kulture [heart emojis] anything else woulda been basic Okrrrrr." As for her middle name, Kiari is actually Cardi B's first name.
7. Stormi Webster
For the inspiration behind her baby's name, Kylie shared, "When I was pregnant, I used to call her 'Stormie'—when I would talk to her in my belly. It just always felt right." The Kylie Cosmetics founder also revealed that her other option would have been Rose.
8. Ocean King
Ocean King's name was inspired by his parents, Alexa PenaVega and Carlos PenaVega's faith. "God called the dry ground 'land' and the water the 'seas'. And God saw that it was good," the Spy Kids star said. "That is why we went with Ocean. And he is a son of the one true 'King'. For us it has a beautiful biblical meaning."
The couple also has another son who they named Kingston James.
9. Slash Electric
Amber Rose loved the name of her son with Alexander "AE" Edwards so much that she had it inked on her forehead. She also had her and Wiz Khalifa's son Sebastian's name tattoed.
10. Kenzo Kash
Kenzo's son's name means "strong and healthy." He is also dad to Heaven (15) and Hendrix (12).
11. Mia Mejia
Bachelor alums Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici welcomed baby Mia in December 2019.They're also parents to Thomas who is 3 and Isaiah Hendrix who is 2.
12. Gideon Scott
While deciding names for their twins, Neil Patrick Harris and his husband David Burtka decided they wanted something versatile. So they decided on Gideon for their boy since "Gideon" could be "a scientist or a guitar player in a band."
13. Canon Wardell Jack
The meaning of the name of Steph Cury and Ayesha Curry's third child is "officiant of the church" and "young wolf." The couple also have daughters Riley Elizabeth and Ryan Carson.
14. Lazer Lee Louis Pentz
DJ Diplo took inspiration from his electronic dance music trio, Major Lazer to name his second son.
15. Blaze Tucker
Kandi Burruss gave birth to her third child in November 2019 and introduced the world to baby Blaze. She is also mother to her son Ace and daughter Riley.
16. Apollo Joosung Armstrong
Greta Lee and her husband Russ Armstrong decided to name their first child Apollo Joosung. His younger brother, on the other hand, is named Raphael.
17. Psalm West
Every one of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's children have unique names: North West, Saint West, Chicago West, and Psalm West.
18. Exton Elias Downey
Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey really are cool parents as evidenced by the cool name they gave their son Exton.
19. Luna Simone
In an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Chrissy Teigen explained that the inspiration behind her daughter's name was a blood moon that had occurred right before her birth.
"There was a blood moon happening, and it was really a beautiful night," she recalled. "There was a really big, vivid red moon. It was just gorgeous."
Two years later, Chrissy and John Legend welcomed their son Miles Theodore.
20. Andara Rose
Bachelor Nation's Krystal Nielson and boyfriend Miles Bowles welcomed their baby girl on March 31. Five days later, the proud mom announced her baby's name saying, "It's official!!! Glitter baby has a name!!!! Introducing our beautiful angel, Andara Rose Bowles."
21. Tiana Gia
Dwayne Johnson and his wife Lauren Hashian might have been inspired by Disney princesses when naming their daughters with the exception of Dwayne's eldest daughter Simone, of course.
Their middle child is named Jasmine and their youngest is named Tiana.
22. York Banks Asia
Tyra Banks and her boyfriend Erik Asia had their baby via surrogate and welcomed him into the world in 2016.
